annual douglas county Back2School Supply Drive

In previous years, our annual effort has produced backpacks filled with school supplies for approximately 1,800 students.  This year’s goal is to provide a complete supply kit for every Douglas County youth in need, as well as excess to teachers for their classroom closets to replace and refresh throughout the year.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  • Donation bin (Preferred): We can place a Douglas County Back2School donation bin at your business/office from July 1-31. The location of the donation area could be determined by you.  We can provide our own signage and transportation of the donated items.

Tabling: If you want to schedule a time for volunteers to table outside your store’s entrance in July. We could arrange for volunteers to be stationed outside the store during agreed upon times, asking customers to consider purchasing extra school supplies and donating them to Douglas County Back2School for distribution to students in need.  Our request for help is to allow our volunteers to be outside your store.

Note: If you or your employees would like to volunteer to help with the Back2School drive there are many ways we can get them engaged! If you also wanted to organize a collection drive with staff, we can help with the facilitation of organizing a program.

Any support you can provide is appreciated; we will recognize all supporters publicly for their contributions.

Thank you for your consideration, and we hope to hear from you soon regarding interest, please contact Kathy Smith, United Way of Kaw Valley, to confirm participation details at 785-581-0232 or email ksmith@uwkawvalley.org  We welcome your engagement on behalf of Douglas County students and educators.
